Buyers can't self-qualify
If your homepage doesn't name a specific buyer, role, and pain, the right buyer can't recognise themselves. Generic messaging attracts everyone and converts no one.

AI buyers are drowning in identical claims: AI-powered, automate workflows, save time, deploy agents. If your positioning doesn't make the use case, buyer, pain, proof, and trust layer unmistakably clear — you look interesting but not urgent. Score your sameness risk in 5 minutes.
The sameness problem
If your homepage doesn't name a specific buyer, role, and pain, the right buyer can't recognise themselves. Generic messaging attracts everyone and converts no one.
Cold messages that lead with "AI-powered platform" or "automate your workflows" get deleted. Buyers have seen it 40 times this week. There's no reason to reply.
When buyers can't articulate why you're different to their team, deals stall. "Interesting" doesn't get budget approval. Specific, credible, urgent positioning does.
The scorecard
Answer for your current website and sales assets, not for the product you're building.

What the score means
Score 18–24 · Low risk
Your positioning is specific, credible, and commercially useful. Buyers can self-qualify quickly, proof is strong, and your narrative stands out. The work now is testing and compounding.
Score 9–17 · Medium risk
Some elements are strong but key gaps are letting competitors in. Buyers may find you interesting but can't easily choose you over alternatives. 2–3 specific fixes will sharpen it.
Score 0–8 · High risk
Your positioning sounds like most other AI companies. Generic claims, unclear buyer pain, and weak proof mean buyers scroll past, don't reply, or say "we'll come back to this". They won't.
Common questions
Because the default language is feature-led: AI-powered, automate workflows, save time, increase productivity. These phrases describe the mechanism, not the buyer's pain. When everyone leads with the same capabilities, the only differentiators left are price and logo size, neither of which you want to compete on.
Product differentiation and positioning differentiation are not the same thing. Your product may be genuinely better, but if your website, outbound, and sales deck sound like everyone else, buyers won't feel that difference before the demo. This scorecard tests the positioning, not the product.
Yes, positioning, messaging, proof systems, and competitive narrative are core WSS work. An AI positioning teardown usually identifies 2–3 specific shifts that change how buyers respond in the first 30 seconds of reading.
